When
faced with a context of rapid technological growth, having excellent human
resources helps a business survive in the heightened competition between businesses
(Obiekwe, 2018).
SWOT
analysis: What is it?
Rangkuti (2013), A SWOT analysis is one of
the tools used to formulate strategies based on employee and company
circumstances that can affect company performance. These factors are classified
as internal and external factors, namely the relationship between the business
and the community that creates and supports it.
Both the organization's strengths and weaknesses
are internal variables that may be managed. Opportunities and threats are
elements that are external to the organization and outside of HR's control.
A SWOT analysis, which is an important tool in decision making used by managers, can also be an efficient tool for exploring the quality of human resources and their further direction. Businesses and organizations mainly use SWOT analysis when solving problems regarding the management and strategic targeting of systems, sectors, processes, and marketing campaigns.

The authors (Dudinská and Budaj 2009)
point out that “the basic meaning and benefit of the SWOT analysis resides in a
comprehensive and thorough identification of external and internal influences
and links. It is an approach towards synthesis as a basis for the formulation
of a strategy”. The SWOT analysis is used in various economical fields as well
as in social sciences.
Shahbaa (2017) used the SWOT and AHP
methods to identify strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats while
dealing with waste management strategies in iron mines.
Why
HR should act SWOT?
Having considered the company's strengths,
weaknesses, opportunities, and threats. SWOT analysis is employed to determine
the best course of action. (Gürel & Tat, 2017; Sarsby, 2016).
A SWOT analysis may be used to evaluate
the departmental and individual skills within your firm. Teams and employees
might, for instance, identify the talents they now have and the ones they lack.
Once you have gathered all the data, you will be able to identify the current
strengths and weaknesses and create strategies to hire people or acquire skills
that are now unavailable but long-term required.

How
HR can conduct SWOT?
The
benefit of SWOT analysis to the organization.
1. SWOT analysis aids firms in identifying
their internal strengths and weaknesses, such as the knowledge and expertise of
their workforce, the effectiveness of their business procedures, and the
standard of their goods or services. Organizations may create plans to build on
their strengths and solve their deficiencies by recognizing their strengths and
limitations.
2. SWOT
analysis also aids firms in identifying external opportunities and risks, such
as shifts in the marketplace, advances in technology, and regulatory changes.
Organizations may create plans to seize chances and lessen dangers by
identifying these threats and opportunities.
3. SWOT
analysis may assist HR managers in identifying the opportunities, threats, and
areas of strength and weakness within their firm. This information can then be
used to design HR strategies. For instance, if the study indicates a lack of
competent workers as a problem, the HR department might create plans to draw in
and keep top personnel.
CONCLUSION
SWOT analysis is a useful technique that
has several advantages for the HRM function of a business. HR managers may
create strategies that support the organization's goals and objectives by
determining the organization's strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and
threats. Enhancements in productivity, risk reduction, and recruitment and
retention may result from this. HR managers may build a staff that is more
prepared to tackle challenges and achieve organizational success by utilizing
SWOT analysis to guide their decision-making. In general, SWOT analysis is a
crucial tool for HRM professionals looking to create successful HR strategies
and make sure that their workforce is in line with the aims and objectives of
the firm.
